Beauty through Boudoir: A client tells all about her experience with Darci Amundson Photography in Denver, CO

Boudoir is one of the most thrilling, artistic, and fun sessions that I offer my clients.  I love seeing the change throughout the process, they always come in feeling very nervous and shy and by the end of the session they are transformed to a confident woman who is so happy they had their boudoir experience at Darci Amundson Photography

My client, “J” was no different.  Although she had a boudoir experience in the past it was so hard to hear how they had rushed her through the process and her experience was not up to her expectations.  I know what a woman needs to feel her best, I also know the best posing and lighting techniques to highlight her best qualities.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite images from “J’s” session and why boudoir is such a wonderful way to celebrate your sexy!

How did you hear about Darci Amundson Photography?

“I heard about Darci from a website special.  I’ve seen several and was very picky about what I was looking for.  I loved her use of lighting (which is SO important), composition, and taste.  She has a real artist’s eye and features her subject to the best possible advantage.”

How was your boudoir experience with Darci Amundson Photography?

“Wonderful! Fun and comfortable. I never felt rushed or pressured, I was surprisingly relaxed. I absolutely trusted her.   She was great at giving direction, offering advice, and making me laugh and feel confident.” What made you want to do a boudoir session?

“I wanted to do a boudoir session to remind me of what it’s like to knock ‘em dead. I work too much and have a tendency  to not spend time on me. It seems like everything and everyone else is a priority. I needed to shake things up a bit and  this seemed (and was!) a great way to do that.” How do you define beauty?

“Confidence, laughter, generosity, and a great pair of shoes never hurt!” What are some things you enjoy doing in your free time?

“I volunteer at the local animal shelter when I specialize in working with special needs animals.   I’m also a roller derby girl in training! Other then that, cooking, reading, and gardening (errr… definitely a seasonal hobby)” What are some of your weaknesses?

“Champagne. Hockey. Shoes. Animals. Skating. Not necessarily in that order.” What is your favorite sweet treat?

“Yeah, I’m a raging Scorpio. I don’t really have favorites. I’m more of a “must have it all” kind of gal.   That being said…. fried ice cream, regular ice cream, cupcakes, chocolate (currently in a fondue phase)….” You can find more information and beautiful boudoir photography at www.darciphotography.com

Thu & Chad Denver photographer in the French Quarter

Every year since I started my photography business in 2009 I have attended Imaging USA since I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America.  This is an amazing learning experience that I will blog about in another post.  This year’s Imaging was held in the beautiful New Orleans.  What typically happens when I go to convention though is I end up having to go alone since my boyfriend works nights and weekends.  I really wanted to explore the French Quarter but was unsure about doing that by myself.  So I used my resources that I use for my modeling group, First Class Photo Shoots, and found some amazing models to set up a shoot in the French Quarter.

I absolutely LOVE engagement pictures and couple sessions so I was thrilled when Thu & Chad said they would so a photography session with me.  They even had a great idea of their own wanting some pictures done like an Express Ad, I was all for it!  

I met them in the French Quarter at Reverend Zombies House of Voodoo on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Thu and Chad looked absolutely amazing dressed in their trendy black and white threads.  

I couldn’t help but feel the chemistry they had together.  Not only was it captured in the photography but just watching them together I could tell they had something very special.  I asked them some questions about their connection, I hope you enjoy their story!

I learned that Chad is a Lion…he stalks his prey and when it was time, he pounced!  Okay, maybe that’s not exactly how they met a little over a year ago.  Thu was being a good student studying at Barnes & Nobles and once her friends left it opened up a spot at her table where Chad asked to join her.  She described him as “a pale guy with jet black hair, spiked in a very stylist manner. There were no empty tables at Barnes and Noble at the time, so I didn’t mind sharing. Besides, I was curious whether this guy actually studies or not. To my amazement, he pulled out a thick Biology book! Let’s just say I had a little crush for the first time in my college career.”  

They went to a movie on their first date, How Do You Know….little did they know that a line from the movie would now be one of Thu’s most romantic moments shared with Chad.  On New Year’s Eve Chad asked Thu, “”do you want to be monogamous?” which was a line from that movie.  Of course…she said yes!

Chad also has a very romantic memory with Thu.  On their first anniversary she gave him “a scrapbook that contained all the most memorable experiences that we shared together. The gift took me by surprise; In it were things that were near and dear to her heart. I read it every time i miss her.”

What makes a strong relationship?  Thu thinks a strong relationship “requires commitment, sacrifice, and courage. It’s hard to trust someone you don’t know, but once you allow yourself to accept someone for who they are, it is quite rewarding! Whatever you invest in the relationship, you get back ten times more!”

Chad believes that a strong relationship comes from “building trust in the relationship is the most important. It sounds cliche but its true. When you can fully be honest with someone is when your relationship is at its peak. You can say what your really feel without having to feel guilty or ashamed. I can tell Thu all my crazy ideas and she wont criticize me, she will support my ideas, and she might even make them 1000x better.”

I finished with asking them if they would rather cook or go out to eat, I should have known!  Thu replied, “Yes! We LOVE to cook. Chad is the master tofu chef and I’m the master dessert guru, specializing in cheesecake. One of our favorite dishes include chicken alfredo, bibimbap, quesadilla, and tofu fried rice. PS. We even have a food journal!”  Next time I’m in New Orleans I’m going to their place!

3rd Annual Cemetery Photo shoot. Denver fashion and model photographer.

This is one of my favorite times of year! I love Halloween and dressing up. I have a photograph group, First Class Photo Shoots, that I set up themed shoots for area photographers and models. This cemetery is the best place to capture the true creepy vibe for this type of shoot. The models were fabulous, doing anything we ask of them. Check out my favorites from the spooky session!

Family portrait month Denver photography Matsuo-Williams family

Lisa is a past client and was really excited to have some family portraits done before their new addition arrives! Hana was showing off her gymnastic skills through the alleys of downtown Denver. There is something so special about taking family portraits, being able to share just a glimpse of how they interact with each other and the true love of a family shines through in the pictures.
